Hello from the CameraFi Team 😊
On April 17th, we hosted a special Pickleball Team Building Day with our team members!
This wasn’t just another casual sports activity—
👉 we actually created and managed a mini tournament using CameraFi Studio’s Open Play feature.
Today, we’re sharing a behind-the-scenes look at how it all went,
along with a step-by-step guide on how Open Play made running a small-scale match incredibly easy and efficient 🤗
🧩 Here’s how we organized it
- Created an Open Play event in CameraFi Studio
- Recruited participants
- Learned basic pickleball skills
- Played Americano matches
- Played King of the Court
- Wrapped up with prizes
👉 All packed into a fun and engaging 2-hour session!
Now, let’s walk through how we prepared and ran everything—
from setup to the actual event.
------------------------
1️⃣ Creating an Open Play Event (Preparation)
Before the event, we created a pickleball Open Play session in advance.
Since prizes were prepared for the top 3 players,
we chose the ☕ Americano format, which ensures balanced matchups and individual scoring.
Once the match was set up,
we simply shared the link in our team chat—and we were ready to go!
2️⃣ Joining is Super Easy
Participants just needed to click the shared link and hit “Join”—that’s it!
📌 You can even join on-site!
If someone forgot to register in advance or joined last minute,
They could simply scan a QR code and jump right in.
3️⃣ Learning Pickleball at M-MOVE
We visited M-MOVE in Yongsan,
a popular venue known for its great view and well-maintained courts.
Located at the top of I-Park Mall(Seoul, South Korea),
the bright sunlight and clean courts instantly set the mood.
Even before we started, everyone was already excited—
like, “This is going to be fun.” 😄
Since most of us were beginners, we started with a quick lesson.
We learned:
- How to hold the paddle
- Forehand & backhand
- Dink shots and basic techniques
Everyone picked it up faster than expected!
But then… There was one problem.
The scoring system.
😅
“Zero-zero-two…?”
“Wait... zero-zero-one???”
At this point, everyone started second-guessing themselves.
During practice matches, whenever the coach asked for the score,
there was a brief moment of silence...
Some got it right, but most didn’t.
With a bit of confusion (and laughter),
We decided to just play and figure it out along the way— and the matches officially began!
4️⃣ Americano Matches Begin
The Americano format rotates partners and opponents every game,
making it a fully individual competition.
Once all participants were added to the queue,
matches were automatically generated and started instantly.
With 2 courts available, we followed the automatically generated match schedule.
Since everyone was still learning, we simplified things by focusing on rally-based gameplay instead of strict official rules
(Otherwise, the matches might never end 🥲)
At first, it was hard to get the timing right, and just when we thought we made a good play, mistakes would follow. 😄
We played matches up to 11 points, which kept the games short and dynamic, especially with doubles, where the pace stayed fast and engaging.
5️⃣ King of the Court
Since the matches ended quicker than expected, we moved on to King of the Court.
In this format:
- Winners stay on the court
- Losers rotate out
At first, everyone played casually, but before long, a competitive spirit kicked in.
Even as beginners, everyone was fully engaged and clearly enjoying the game.
6️⃣ Wrap-up & Prizes
After about an hour of matches, it was finally time to wrap up!
And... who took first place?
As expected, our CEO 😄
(but since they’re clearly too skilled, they were excluded from prizes!)
Based on the Americano rankings,
Prizes were awarded to the top 3 players (excluding the 1st player).
With the awards ceremony complete, our Pickleball Team Day came to a satisfying close 😊
💡 What We Loved About It
✔ Easy participant registration and management
✔ Automated match operation (Americano)
✔ Smooth transition between different game formats
✔ Beginner-friendly and easy to join
While preparation was simple,
the actual event ran much more efficiently than expected.
In just two hours, everyone was able to play, connect, and genuinely enjoy the experience.
